My 8K on MAG and Formuler Set-Top Boxes
The one that needs no login at all. Your box is recognised by its own hardware number, so once we have that number from you there is very little left for you to do.
Before you start
- Your MAG or Formuler box connected to the telly and the internet
- The hardware number printed on the box
- The box remote
Find the hardware number
It is the MAC address, and it looks like six pairs of letters and numbers separated by colons. You will find it on a sticker underneath the box, and also on screen under Settings and then System Information. Copy it exactly, including the colons.
Give us that number at checkout
On the order form, choose MAG as the way you want to watch and paste the number into the box that appears. This is the step people skip. Without it we cannot attach your subscription to your hardware, and your box will sit on a portal error screen looking broken when it is not.
Enter the portal address
On the box, go to Settings, then System Settings, then Servers, then Portals. Give portal one any name you like and type the portal address from your account page into the URL field. Save it and leave the second portal empty.
Restart the portal, not the box
Press the remote’s menu button, choose Restart Portal, and wait. Your channels load by themselves. A full power cycle works too, but restarting the portal is quicker and is what we ask you to try first if you ever message us about a MAG box.
Worth knowing
- A MAG box is tied to that one piece of hardware. If you replace the box, send us the new number and we will move your subscription across.
- If the portal loads but nothing plays, it is nearly always the network rather than the subscription. Plug it in with a cable and try again before anything else.
- Keep the number written down somewhere. It is the fastest thing you can give us when you need help.
